Friday (Quintessa Ju No)
My heart dog
We brought Friday home on Good Friday 2012 (hence the name). Our very first purebred Great Dane. We were so excited!!! She was 13 1/2 weeks old and was in her first fear period, so she didn't quite have the same take on things. My husband and I have both had dogs our entire lives, including fostering and rescue of babies and young dogs, as well as raising guide dogs, but had never come across this before. You live and you learn, and Friday taught us heaps!
Friday is the most gentle and loving girl I have ever come across. She is shy though, especially around strange men. I don't blame her, really. She has not done well in the show ring for these reasons, as I failed at managing her initial fears properly. Being the oxymoron that she is, judges love her movement and confirmation and she loves going to shows. Just not the touchy feely part so much. Being a sooky mum, I have decided to leave it at that. She'll come to shows, but not show... And everyone is happy!
